Went over to Main Street for lunch and a wander. Went to Coco et Olive and had cappuccino, chai latte, carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, and two sandwiches: tomato & fior di latte, and spicy cappocollo.
Coco et Olive really does have great housewares. Lots of Mongey Ceramics.
I was intrigued by Eaten, a food history magazine, but it was the dessert issue which is less interesting to me. I should ask the Internet if it can recommend long form food writing.
We had intended go to Welks, but it was closed!
Onwards to Lucky’s Comics, where they have many excellent books beyond comics, including a selection of cookbooks.
Two books I didn’t buy:
Asian Vegetables, by three Chinese sisters who grew up in Quebec.
tawâw, progressive indigenous cuisine by Chef Shane M. Chartrand.
And one I did:
Eating Local in the Fraser Valley A food lover’s guide, featuring over 70 recipes from farmers, producers, and chefs. By Angie Quaale. It has sections for Langley, Abbotsford, and Chilliwack.
Also got a message from Dave Shea that Nine Dumplings is now at City Square, so will have to make plans to visit it.
