We were up before 5am because of the cat, but at least I got a sunrise photo.
My friend Elias posted about eating just from his farm (which is in the hills outside Barcelona in Spain), including some Tortang talong. Which just made me think about the Spanish Berenjenas Fritas Con Miel - Fried Aubergine with honey.

Went for a walk at Colliery Dam Park again. Nice amongst the trees for staying cool.
On the way back went to White Rabbit Coffee for cappuccino and iced chai. Rachael went into Vancouver Island Refillery, including getting me a Leaf razor as a surprise.
We made reservations for 5pm at Mahle House. Their Wednesday chef’s tasting menu was full which is why we went to Black Rabbit July 2023, but we did want to try Mahle as well.
The restaurant is out in Cedar, south of Nanaimo, in an old heritage home. They have a patio but it was a pretty hot day so we had a nice table looking out over the garden. We were served an amuse with corn and smoked salmon We had the tuna ceviche with miso mayo and wonton crackers appetizer which was a special. I got the pan fried ling cod with yuzu broth and rice cakes as my main. Rachael had the Mushroom Ricotta Cannelloni, Pesto, Basil Crema, Pickled Shimeji, Crispy Portobello, Roasted Cippolini Onion To drink, I had Twin City Obscura Italian Plum Berliner Style Weisse. This was really tasty and paired well with food. Rachael had Salted Rosemary Paloma - Grapefruit, Lime, Salted Rosemary Syrup, Soda. For dessert, we shared Silken Chocolate Cake, Gingersnap Crust, Berry Coulis, Sorbet.
